The UNESCO-Bioethics unit of SGT University affiliated to UNESCO Chair in Bioethics, Haifa was established on 30th June 2017 and was inaugurated by Dr Russell D Souza, Head, Asia Pacific division, UNESCO-Chair in Bioethics, Haifa.
The Writ of appointments to Unit head, Secretary, Students wing and steering committee members were awarded.

The activities of the Unit include:

1) Symposium on Bioethics on 1st July 2017
2) Extension Lecture on “Organ Donation Awareness” on 11th August 2017
3) Guest Lecture On “Bioethics And Biomedical Research In Today’s World” on 13th September 2017 by Dr. Mark A James, Kent State University, Ohio
4) 2 members enrolled and participated in the 4th Bioethics Webinar course- International Certificate on the Principals of Bioethics and Human Rights under Dr Russell D Souza.
5) 2 Lectures by Head of the Unit in Faculty development programmes(FDPs) on:
• Ethical issues in Teaching
• Ethical issues in administration.
6) World Bioethics day Competitions organized and selected entries were sent for International competitions
7) Celebration of World Bioethics day 2018 on 24th October 2018.
8) Lecture on Ethics in Medical Research as part of Research methodology Workshop
9) A Scientific publication by unit members on “Ethics in Scientific Publication” in Indian Journal of Health Sciences and care.
10) Introduction of Value-added course on “Professional Ethics and Human Values”.
11) Conduction of “Know your rights” workshop in collaboration with IQAC on 18th and 19th March 2019.
12) Guest Lecture on “Safe Disposal of Used Medicines” on 15th April 2019.
