  • Dr S.C Mohapatra- Dean Academic Affairs
  • Dr Astha Chaudhry- Sub Dean, Collegium of Deans

The Agenda of the meeting was:

  1. Syllabus modification/Dilution of the basic subjects in the concerned fields
  2. Setting up of question paper and evaluation of basic subjects paper by the concerned faculty members not medical faculty.

Chairman addressed that a student from faculty of Dental Sciences, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Allied Health Sciences and Nursing is not required to know the anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology and microbiology of the level of a medical graduate. Only relevant and applied aspects pf subject matterpertaining to the these disciplines are required to be known.

For this purpose either the deans can train one faculty member from their own faculty to teach the concerned subject and mainly focusing on the applied aspects of them or they can engage medical faculty teach those subject with prescribed syllabus and curriculum.

The setting up of question papers and the evaluation of the answer papers should be done by the parent faculty members as they can evaluate what a student is required to know. An external expert from anatomy may be having high expectations and this can lead to unnecessary burden on the students and will have an impact on the overall result.

Dr Govila suggested that we should do certain modifications in the ordinance of the University. That the question paper should be prepared by External/Internal expert who is practically engaged in delivering duties of concern subject in reasonably good setup or laboratory with provision of moderation by internal faculty.

Dr Bhalla said that there is a need to change the examiner panel, we should not focus on only senior professors, but include all those who have appropriate expertise in the subject matter to s. It may be left to concerned faculty and dean to recommend appropriate name of external examiners.

It was decided that Dr Aparna Dave, HOD Oral Pathology, will be coordinator for thedental &paramedical faculty and will be coordinating with all the Deans regarding their course content teaching and evaluation. Also she will be creating subject experts from their own faculty to perform these functions.
